Happy Easter
I have many fond memories of Easter. The world awakens in spring. Daffodils, crocuses and spring beauties are showing their pretty faces. The animal kingdom is renewed with fresh life. The earth is thawing and you can smell the wonderful mud. The landscape transforms from monotone to blossoming hues. How can a body not be excited?
It seems that every Easter I was given a new dress to wear for the holiday. I loved going to church on Easter Sundays. Our church had a sunrise service on a church member’s private property. The congregation would arrive before the sun was up. We stood by a sweet little pond as we sang hymns and listened to the story of Jesus’ resurrection. As time progressed we would watch the gentle dawn appear above the tree line. Once the sun was up, and we had celebrated what God did for us through His Son Jesus, we would all go to the church and have breakfast together. Sit and talk. Spend time listening to one another. I miss that.
Tradition and location tend to change throughout our lives. Seasons take us from one set of memories to another. What pleasant memories of Easter do you have?
